We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the last year has been some wild ride. It’s been just over a year now since we moved to our newer, bigger brewery in Tweedbank and it’s allowed us to get out and do so much more than we were able to before.
The last couple weeks have been jam packed with trips all over the place from an hour away to Edinburgh, all the way to London, and even a trip to Barcelona.
Our main reason for going to Barcelona was to attend the Barcelona Beer Festival; a three day beer filled extravaganza visited by more than 30,000 craft beer enthusiasts from all over the world. It’s also the new home of the Barcelona Beer Challenge, an international beer competition celebrating high standards of quality in the brewing community.
And the good news?
We won two awards! That’s right, out of 500 individual beers entered we took home two Gold Awards in the American Amber Ale category for A Face With No Name , and in the Mixed Style category for Saison Du Pommes.
Interestingly, not only did the judges find and agree on a style for our mystery Red IPA/Amber Ale bastard child, it came up on screen on the night as “Ambiguous Amber Ale” which Gavin initially seen and thought “That looks familiar…wait…that’s us!”
And now that the lovely, well behaved press photos are out the way…
We couldn’t be happier or more chuffed to win these awards. Winning any award is a huge honour, but to win these for two of our most recent beers now that we’re hitting our a stride a year after our expansion tastes all the sweeter.
A huge thank you to not just Barcelona Beer Festival and Barcelona Beer Challenge, but to our team for all the hard work over the last year. Well done, guys!
