Scottish Beer Awards 2017: Tempest are Storming the Shortlist!

The Scottish Beer Awards are here once again and we've really outdone ourselves...

Scottish Beer Awards 2017: Tempest are Storming the Shortlist!

Last year, we participated in the inaugural Scottish Beer Awards; an awards show dedicated to showcasing the best in brewing talent that Scotland has to offer. We're comfortably confident in the quality of our beers and strongly believe in our ethos in how we make them, but there is always a bit of nervousness around these sorts of awards applications that you might not do as well as you think you should. Well, we ended up doing pretty well as you may know. After a great night spent in good company, we took home 5 taste awards, and 2 business awards that included the lofty title "Scottish Brewery of the Year". So when we got the email from the team at KD Media about the 2017 awards show, we would have been stupid to turn them down.    The competition this year was a lot stiffer than last year in terms of sheer quantity of entries; last year they seen 154 beers entered along with 55 written entries, this year they've had 266 beers, and 83 entries. But, we love a challenge. Last year, we had 6 beers shortlisted for awards, as well as being up for 3 business awards; we ended up taking home 5 of those beer awards, and 2 of the business awards. And this year, we've been shortlisted for 12 beer awards, and 4 business awards. So despite the huge surge in competition, we've held our own and then some! We're delighted to be short listed for the following awards: Best IPA Tempest IPA, Brave New World Best Pale Ale Long White cloud Best Porter Red Eye Flight Best Amplified Beer Double Shuck, Marmalade on Rye, The Alligator Man, In The Dark We Live - Dark Fruits Best Lager or Pilsner Modern Helles Best Sour Mango Berlinner, Drop Kick Me Jesus, Seasons Project: Rhubarb & Citrus Sour Scottish Brewery of the YearProduct Development Team of the YearExporter of the YearGrowth Business of the Year There's a lot in that list that we're excited about. First of all, we're delighted that we get the opportunity to defend our Brewery of the Year and Growth Business titles, alongside our wins last year for Best IPA and Best Porter. Secondly, we're really happy that our collaboration project beer with Fallen, Cromarty, and Pilot, is up for "Best Sour"; it just helps strengthen our resolve in that the project is worthwhile and is starting to be successful. A big congratulations to all the other beers and breweries shortlisted, and thank you to KD Media for organising something we're sure takes a lot of time and logistical effort to put together. We can't wait for the awards ceremony in September, maybe we'll even come away with more than last this space!
